Bedford Octoberfest
Cleveland Girl's Blog
As someone who lives in the beautiful city of Bedford, a suburb of Cleveland Ohio, I know that I'm lucky to be surrounded by so much relaxed, inexpensive, weekend entertainment. The city has festivals in its downtown area on Broadway Avenue where people get together to eat, shop, and listen to live music on summer weekends.
Today I headed over to the Octoberfest in downtown Bedford. The smell of gyros, Italian sausage, french fries, and pastry filled the air as I walked up to the street festival in the square.
Bedford Live Music There was a band playing polka music on the stage as people of all ages gathered around to dance.

I smiled as I walked past them and then headed over to look at some of the booths. There were people selling a little bit of everything from jewelry, to Tupperware, to cinnamon roasted nuts.
I stopped over at the Fisher Karate table where I met the parents of the owner.
Bedford Octoberfest They were talking to a guy with an "vote" hat holding a clipboard and having a nice political argument conversation about the issues.
The woman gladly left their conversation and came over to talk to me about the martial arts classes at their location in Oakwood Village.
She was very friendly and told me all about her son Brandon (the owner) who has been practicing the art since he was seven years old.

I took her card and told her that I would visit them next week to see their classes. I would love to get my son involved in that.
Anyway, after chatting for awhile I noticed some steam coming out of a box over by the WMJI and Nature Stone display. I walked over and asked what was up. A guy named Joe offered me a frozen yogurt bar from the box, but I was saving my appetite for a steak sandwich that I peeped went I first walked in.

Jim Malone WMJI I talked to Joe (from WMJI on the right) and Brenda (from Nature Stone) for awhile… when he noticed my camera, Joe asked me if I wanted to take a picture with the guy standing about 10 feet away from the table.
I had no clue who he was so they informed me that it was Jim Malone (on the left) from WMJI's Lanigan and Malone radio show on Majic 105.7 FM. I used to listen to that when I drove to work... you know, back when I had a "job". :-)
Jim Malone finished his conversation with the owner of Nature Stone, Russ Masetta and then came and joined us.
This guy had me cracking up! He's definitely a quick-witted person… which explains why the radio show is such a success. We talked for a little bit and then I asked if I could get a picture. Brenda, Joe, and Jim happily obliged... and someone inside of the Nature Stone building decided to jump into the shot as well. :-)
WMJI + Nature Stone = Cool People

Jim Malone and Joe Nero WMJI Brenda from Nature Stone Soon my stomach was knocking, so I answered the call with that steak sandwich I had been craving. It was loaded with cheese, mushrooms, and onions… served up hot and fresh just for me. I should have taken a picture of that because it was a beautiful sight to behold.
Before leaving I also met a person named Frank who owns an aluminum siding and window company. He told me a little about the business, the history of it, and what he does there.
Bedford Octoberfest I asked him for his website address and he said he didn't have a website. I was stunned! A business that's been around for 17 years with no website?
If you're like this gentleman… a person who owns a local business and you know you need a website (it's 2008 ) but don't want to spend a bazillion dollars for it... please click here and learn how I can help you get your business online fast and take a look at how I built this site.
I hope to feature Frank's business (and new website) in an upcoming blog – stay tuned.
It was getting late so I headed back to my car. Before leaving I saw some Bedford police officers standing by the train tracks.

Think cops are mean? Not in Bedford, Ohio. These guys were very nice… just like most people I meet in Cleveland… and we had a great little convo before I left the Octoberfest.
Once again, there are so many fun and inexpensive things to do in Cleveland. For a schedule of all of the festivals in the downtown area of Bedford (located approximately 12 miles from downtown Cleveland) please click here.
Peace,
~Cleveland Girl
