Little Italy Cleveland Ohio
Those are just a few 'random' words that describe the experiences you may encounter when you visit the Murray Hill region of Cleveland, better known as Little Italy.
A tightly intertwined neighborhood centered around the Church of the Holy Rosary, Little Italy has kept its' Old World' appeal while adjusting to the modern-day internet savvy generation. Best known for the numerous Italian-themed restaurants, it is home to so much more.
Art galleries, theatres, specialty shops, and sidewalk cafes line the streets in abundance.
The Mayfield Smoke Shop offers the finest cigars, Patrizia's Gift Shop is home to every knick-knack you can imagine, and Gina's Gallery & Boutique offers original jewelry, paintings, and clothing. Those are just a few of the 'specialty' shops that appeal to so many Clevelanders, as well as out-of-towners.
Hungry? You've come to the right place.
The aroma of garlic and home-made sauce fill the air every day of the week. Whatever you may have a taste for, Little Italy has it. To list each individual restaurant, it would take too long, so I'll keep it short and simple.
Angelo's Nido Italia not only serves food 'to die for' but also houses a banquet facility perfect for any special occasion.
Trattoria On The Hill's staff goes out of their way to ensure an incredible dining experience.
Mama Santa's pizza is known around the city as simply the best.
So now that you've had a bite to eat, perused a few shops, you think you're ready to leave, right? Wrong.
What would a trip to Little Italy be without a stop at Corbo's Bakery? Leave the gun, take the cannoli. Again, I could go on for days, but I'm doing my best to keep this short and simple.
Now for the good stuff. Vino!!!
Little Italy Wines is home to the finest wines from the Cleveland area and all around the world. Wine tastings are held every Saturday, and in the summertime, the rear patio is the perfect escape for a bit of vino, entertainment, and relaxation.
Family owned and operated, Little Italy Wines strives to ensure that your dining experience is complemented with the perfect wine. Matteo, Jeff, and Sue will go out of their way to help you find the perfect fit, all the while making you feel like you're part of the family. You won't be disappointed.
In closing, if you're ever wondering what to do around the middle of August, wonder no more. The Feast of the Assumption is THE place to be.
All of the shop-owners come together to deliver a festival of food, drink, and entertainment that goes unparalleled around the city.
This four day celebration is centered around the Blessed Virgin Mary's Assumption into Heaven, which includes a procession through the streets of Little Italy on August 15th.
The streets are filled with people that are passionate about Italian culture and its' heritage, as well as those longing to get a taste of that scrumptious Italian cuisine.
All in all, a visit to Little Italy Cleveland encompasses "La Dolce Vita". (The Sweet Life)
