About Me
Hi, I am Tiffany, hometown girl
from Cleveland,
Ohio
and the creator of Things-to-do-in-Cleveland.com. I'm so
happy that you're visiting this website... Thank you for your
support!
After paying a web design
company $3000 to design a
website for her business, a local Real Estate Agent confided in me…
"I paid the
company all that money to build a website for me,
but I
still haven't gotten any leads. It was better for me
to
advertise in the
newspaper… the Internet is a waste of money!"
Interestingly,
that very morning I got up, grabbed a cup of coffee, and checked
my emails. I had a request for an order waiting for me in my
inbox --- a
frequent occurrence on my other site which is only a few months
old. I
then checked my article earnings, which is what I earn when someone
clicks on
an ad on my site or somewhere I've submitted articles. Then I
checked my
Google Adsense account. After looking at all of this, I added
all of my earnings in my head and began my day with a smile.
So I
Guess I'm A Webmaster
Making
money, any time of the day, from everywhere in the world, all while I
was sleeping.
The site
was built using an entire methodology that only a small portion of
Webmasters use when creating websites. The Webmasters who
believe in
glitz and glamour… "Look what I can do with java-scripting, AJAX, PHP, yada yada whatever."
...But if you
take a look on the source page of the website you can see that they
forgot one
major thing: CONTENT.
People who
go on the Internet are NOT going there
to find you, your business,
or your fancy graphics.
They are
going on the Internet to get their problems solved.
They are
going there to find information and entertainment.
Things-to-do-in-Cleveland.com
is a
Web 2.0 content work-in-progress site which is focused on
both: Informing
and entertaining… in real time.
Things To Do
In Cleveland
This idea has
come into being through a series of
seemingly unrelated coincidences that have inspired me to take
action. It
is another keyword-focused content website about the town
that I love.
I
was born in Cleveland
and have lived here most of my life. When others trash the
city, I can't
understand why. I'm surrounded by so much natural beauty, fun
places to
go, and cool people. Cleveland
is a great place to live!
Since I love
to write, love meeting new people, love
taking pictures, and LOVE speaking, I decided that this site would
include a
blog (Cleveland Girl's Blog) with a record of all my travels around my
hometown.
I enjoy the
thought of knowing that I am helping to
attract visitors to the area. Hopefully some of those
visitors will
become community members.
I would like
for this to be a place where
Clevelanders can meet and support other Clevelanders. I would
like for
this to be a place where the stories about local businesses are told.
There are some amazing people in this city who devote their
lives to serving others. I would like to introduce you to
them.
I'm so lucky
to be surrounded by friends who have helped me do this.
(Thank you all!)
I'm also
lucky that I found SBI, Site Build It.
You
Learn By Trying, Failing, and Trying Again
I HAD absolutely no web design
experience when I quit my corporate job in
January 2008 to pursue a life that I create. What
was I thinking?
I knew that
I needed a website so I paid some
web designer guy $500 to design a site for me. He gave me a
3-page
generic website. He was expecting another $500. I was so
ticked off!
I told him "thanks, but no thanks" and decided to do my own
because my son and I gotta eat. :-)
That's when
I created TLW. The Ladies Workshop Online Women's Magazine
www.theladiesworkshop.com.
I bought a domain name from Yahoo and used their sitebuilder tools to
build it.
It took two
months in total to build. I was on
a steep learning curve because I knew NOTHING about web
design. TLW is
pretty and everything, but technically behind the scenes, it's a
disaster!
It's so hard
to get traffic because Yahoo and other sites like that don't teach you
the
process... the ingredients that go into making a successful
website.
After getting
TLW up and running, I started noticing
that a few of my favorite bloggers and Webmasters were talking about a
product
called SiteBuildIt. Supposedly the product was like no other
in that it
taught you the PROCESS behind creating a profitable online
business.
I knew that I
needed another website to promote my
Attraction and Dating Workshops in Cleveland, and since I was
disappointed with Yahoo, I
decided to listen to my favorite bloggers...especially when I saw that
all of
these sites ranked highly at the search engines.
I paid the
money for Site Build It (only $25 a month)
hoping it was a good
choice.
IT
WAS!!!
Thank You Site Build It!
Now I can say
that I have had "schooling" in web
design. I took a course
called SBI and I got a business out of it!
:)
I'm so geeked
about what I've learned about web
design, content, traffic, and making money
online. I was
given all the tools, everything I needed to understand... and the best
thing is
that there is a discussion forum with real people like me who support
each
other and answer questions!
Yes,
I had to go underground for awhile -- not answering phone calls,
missing dates with friends, working for 16-20 hours a day, reading,
teaching myself HTML, CSS, selling online, etc. -- but it was so worth
it!
And I have to
give mad props to Stu
Nicholls www.cssplay.co.uk, Lisa Irby www.2createawebsite.com, and Steve Pavlina www.stevepavlina.com. You all have no idea
how much you have helped me grow! I love the
Internet!
Every day, I
watch my firstloveyou.com
and things-to-do-in-Cleveland websites
grow and I get so happy knowing that I created them the right way,
so
there's no turning back.
Site
Build It
walks you through absolutely
everything. They use a video action guide which goes over
every single
step. I wish that I bought Site Build It before the Yahoo
one…
The Ladies
Workshop could have been a very profitable site if done
correctly.
But I’m happy with it as it is because I see awesome things for these
other two websites… so TLW will get swept up in the momentum
somehow. :)
